“What was the first thing Daniel did in the Book of Daniel?” as Mr. Yap asked me tonight.
“10 days of fasting” I replied innocently.
“Yah, but why? Why did King Nebuchadnezzar bring Daniel to Babylon?” he asked further
“God wanted to train Daniel up?” again, I replied innocently.
“YAH, you're right! I can’t remember the detail but it’s about Daniel’s Training in Babylon” Mr. Yap said very firmly.
Then throughout the conversation, Mr. Yap was ‘harsh’ in his tone… He’s always like that… used to it liaoz... and he knew I don’t take that very well… I will start "scolding" him.. then he will realise he needs to be gentle with me.. hee..
So finally, he decided to exercise gentleness on me as he crystallized his three-point “sermon” to me:
1) Talk to my Shepherd (who Mr. Yap and myself had identified the Shepherd to be my Serene 姐姐 who will point me to the Great Shepherd) and pray together about how I could be strengthened in the Word.
Mr. Yap had just affirmed me as I told Serene 姐姐 during Life Group meeting last week that I want to spend more time in the Word of the Lord. My oh my... I told Sister Huifen during our outing this evening that I had a prompting from the Lord for me to dwell more in His Word. And my dear brother had to call me at 2357hrs just to affirm that!! How AWESOME is our Lord.
2) Don’t be emotional over trivial matters like SMSes because I DO CARE FOR YOU!
Mr. Yap is so adorable… He really treats me like a little boy yah... pacifying and assuring me… having said this, he is very right to say that I shouldn’t be emotional too easily. And what amused me and Rich most was last week, after Pastor Benny Ho’s seminar, Mr. Yap had to pass me a box of audio CDs titled “Managing Your Emotions”… well done… and Mr. Rich had to laugh so loudly over that… even better… haha… I was totally stunned and lost for words. Mr. Yap ALWAYS caught me unaware (no pre-warning)… Yah, Mr. Yap, you know what I mean yah…
3) Don’t be attention seeking, especially from those you like!
Well done… this Mr. Yap really got onto my nerves when he said that.. But I must acknowledge that he is very right… haha… I am a BIG attention seeker. All the attention I yearned, should come from the Lord alone. =)
I salute you, Mr. Yap.
God bless your heart too Brother as you preached to me this morning. Love you, Brother.
