I was so shocked and overwhelmed by Pastor Aaron's sermon.
He used Jude 5-7 to illustrate the 3 historical judgments of God on three groups of people: -
1. Disbelieving Believers of Christ i.e. those who have seen the Lord's miracles and the Lord had delivered them from their bondages yet these people still doubt the Lord.
2. Fallen Angels - the once privileged creatures of God, who once enjoyed the highest privilege of dwelling the marvellous light of the full of God's glory, yet they chose to sin against the Almighty God and God has bound them in darkness till the final judgment of God in time to come.
3. Hard-heartened creatures - those who gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion such as those mentioned in Romans 1: 18-32.
Oh man, then Ps Aaron went on to expound on the issue of homosexuality which I thought to be one of the highly sensitive and knotty issues to be addressed in Church, esp. in a Methodist Setting. But I must commend Ps Aaron's courage as the Lord enables him to share about his ministry in this area. Indeed, I pray that more and more churches would address this issue with a prayful, accepting and open mindset.
As the Spirit of God is on every believer of Christ who is willing to be God's instrument to witness to the world that our God Father is the only hope in this struggle. Jesus is the only remendy and formula to those who have the desire to walk out of homosexuality. =)
As the Vision that God has shown me beginning this year through Luke 4:18-19 and Isiah 61:1-2
The Spirit of the Lord is on me
Because he has anointed me
To preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
And recovery of sight for the blind
To release the oppressed
To proclaim the year of the Lord's favor
Brothers and Sisters, as we walk in the way of Jesus Christ - our Lord and Saviour, let's not forget the so-called "unloveable". Serene 姐姐, Brother Richie, Brother Cam Yew and Brother Calvin taught me a very important and fundamental gift and character of God which should also flow through us who receive this gift: GRACE. Of course our Almighty Abba Father has more than just grace to offer but today I just want to expound on this topic - GRACE.
Grace is an unmerited favour of God. Indeed when others sinned against us, or even when what some brothers or sisters did clashed with our own value system, the VALUE SYSTEM OF GOD prevails above all other worldly or human value system or moral standards. =)
Not condoning the sin yet embracing the person who suffers and struggles in sin is very important.
I am full of amen, hallelujah and praises for the Lord as I listened to the sermon.. =)
As last nite, I was surfing some unedifying websites, then I repented to the Lord before I Zzz.. then did my Quiet Time. The Lord showed me to the Book of Daniel as I read the Daily Bread.
The Lord seemed to be telling me "Daniel, tell to the world, let it be known to them, that you will not serve their gods (idolatry of all kinds), nor will you worship the gold image (temporal glamour and satisfaction of the lifestyle) which the world has set up" - Daniel 3:18.
The Lord also once again affirmed this new name Daniel, as written: The Hebrew names honour God and God alone (Daniel 1:6). Amen. I know many people who dont understand signficant of this new name still called me Gary and yes.. even sometimes I have doubt my worth in using the new name because of my past coupled with guilt and shame but after reading this entry in the daily bread, I am very afffirmed that this Hebrew name is God-given name to me and I will honour it all the way. In the Book of Life in the hands of the Lord, there is no more Gary Goh but Daniel Goh - the preciously redeemed child of God in Christ Jesus.
"Never mind about what others call you -- God alone knows every heart; Character is all that matters -- Lord, to us this GRACE imparts."
Although I was feeling alittle lousy after the prayer but later, I started to sing to the Lord, in some unknown language.. haha.. yah.. I know I'm singing in tongue and I know the Holy Spirit is speaking to me. I had an interesting dream.. Not going to share but I am once again touched by God's wonderous works. Haha. hmmm.. =)
I shall not be the Israelites in the wilderness, trusting God only when He showed His powers and gave manna and quails to me daily. I will trust him as it is written in Hebrew 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Help me with my unbelief, Abba Father, in Christ's Saving Name, amen. =)
Like what Brother Daryl said, what Ps Aaron shared would serve as a great encouragement for me in the Church and in the Body of Christ. I will press on and persevere for the Lord is cheering for me.
Praise be to God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost!
