Polling Day 2006

Today is the Polling Day of the General Election (GE) for the 11th Parliament of the Republic of Singapore! I must say this, I was really thrilled to be able to exercise my rights as a Citizen of the Republic of Singapore.

I must commend the Election Department (ED) for the great job done! Today's voting is so smooth and so efficient. Granny has difficulty walking, so the Election Officer put Granny onto a wheelchair and put her through the express lane.. So I was priviledged to be able to follow Ah Ma and the Election Officer via the express lane, bypassing the queue.. hehehe.. =p

Hmmm.. this year's election is an interesting one.

Will the ruling political party - the People's Action Party occupy all the 84 seats in the 11th Parliament?

How strong a mandate will Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong receive from Singaporeans to bring our nation forward into the continuous progress and prosperity?

Will the PAP team of the Aljunied GRC headed by Foreign Minister George Yeo win the GE?

Will Mr. Low Thia Khiang and/or Mr. Chiam See Tong return to the Parliament as Elected Members of Parliament for the opposition parties?

I believe this is the most exciting and thrilling GE since the change of Premiership in Singapore! Stay tuned at 2200hrs for the GE results 2006 live! =)
