Brother Kelvin's Big Day
Today is Brother Kelvin's Baptism at Glory Presbyterian Church in the west area, I give thanks to our God, the Lord Almighty, Merciful, Loving Lord and Saviour who gave life to each and everyone of us through His Sacrifice on the Cross of Calvery. I thank Jesus for His unfailing love.
I thank God that He has called Brother Kelvin to draw nearer to Him through this outward and visible sign of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which grace disciples of Christ become partakers of His Righteousness and heirs of life eternal - the Baptism. Those receiving the sacrement are thereby marked as Christian disciples, and initiated into the fellowship of Christ's Holy Church. Praise the Lord
Brother Kelvin has always been a very faithful child of God. Back in Shanghai, he spearheaded the first Global Immersion Programme Shanghai Cell Group. I thank God that Brother Kelvin has been an impt instrument for my devotion and spiritual walk in Shanghai. As a young Christian, his walk, trust and service to the Lord is remarkable. His thirst to know God, to partake His Word and serving Him and His people really pleases the Lord. As I wrote this, I felt the affirmation from the Lord as He electrifies me. =) God is with you, Brother. =)
Love the Lord our God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30. This is a verse I want to share with you as you walk into a new and even promising path of faith!
I am all affirmed that The Lord is well-pleased with you, brother. =)
God bless your family too as they witness your faith and soon our families will join us in professing Christ, being bestowed with salvation from God and receiving Jesus into their lives as personal Lord and Saviour. We'll keep praying for our families. Let us be the light and salt, and testify for the Lord's Kingdom.
Shalom!
Testimony of Zhu Weijie, Kelvin
Thank God for His Salvation. I am honoured to have this chance to re-affirm my faith and obey His command to be baptized in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
I see baptism as the subsequent step in my journey of faith after receiving Christ into my life on 28 February 2004. This is a date which I will truly endear to my heart, a day of forsaking my old self and putting on a new-found cloak of Christ.
My growth as a Christian in this nearly 2 years has been fruitful with the help of Pastor Wesley, and my fellow brothers and sisters-in-Christ around me. I see God working in me, receiving this helpless baby new believer and teaching me along the way. Through the grace of God, I have immensely benefited from the Basic Christian Living follow-up book under the guidance of Pastor Wesley. The Bible Knowledge course, under the CEC programme, also gave me a more thorough understanding of the Bible. In the young adults Bible study class, one of the studies on the Ten Commandments deepened what God has laid down from the beginning for all His children to obey. All these classes granted me a healthy growth towards knowing God better each day.
Equipping me with more understanding of what being a Christian is all about, God sent me to do my Industrial Attachment in Shanghai. At first, many around me were worried about the dangers that I could face spiritually. But in the end, I must say, God displays His true grace of power and mercy in spiritually adverse places like this. Not only did I not backslide in my faith towards Him, I experienced His greatness almost everyday.
I was given a chance by God to coordinate a cell group among 75 of us from NTU who were there on the pioneer Global Immersion Programme. Slightly over 10 of us were Christians coming from different churches in Singapore. Our first ever cell group meeting of 5 persons grew to over 10 and even 20 during the 2 evangelistic events we organized during the six months there. We were greatly encouraged by this fellowship, being away from the comfort zone of home and familiarity. God blessed us with a good English church in Shanghai, where we worshipped Him with fellow Christians from over 50 nations! I even received the calling to teach in the Sunday School there. Thank God for all His blessings, protection and providence.
These 2 journeys of moulding and experiencing prompted me to join the Growing Strong class and the Baptism course to get prepared to be baptized in December 2005. Not only am I following the example set by Jesus, as a Christian duty to be baptized, but it is also my prayer that this will be a good testimony for all around me, to tell everyone that I will defend and bear the Cross of Christ in my life.
I want to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who still do not know Him. I want to urge those who are still undecided about Him to make their decision to follow the one and only true God. I had previously refused to believe, because of the misconceptions about Christianity. I still believe that there are many who hold such misconceptions and misunderstandings. I am ready to share with them what I have discovered these 2 years under God's abundant love, to let them experience the precious gospel of Jesus Christ, our almighty Saviour.
Just to end by sharing a verse which has been very encouraging to me in this journey of faith, as Apostle Paul says in the Bible in 1 Timothy 4:12, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." Amen!
Praise the Lord!
